The position of a dryer can be hard to judge from the mirror. Your barber may be directing airflow at an angle you do not notice while concentrating on the hairstyle. Ask them to pause and explain where the nozzle points in relation to the section being styled.
What to discuss with your barber
Use the equipment's instructions and comfortable settings, and avoid treating maximum heat as the default. The lesson should explain direction rather than encourage prolonged heating of one area. Practise the hand position with the dryer off if that makes the movement easier to understand. A clear starting angle can make the rest of the demonstration less mysterious, particularly when you are learning to coordinate a dryer with another tool.
