A hot towel shave does not mean you must remove every area of stubble. You may prefer to maintain some facial hair yourself while having other areas professionally groomed. Explain that division clearly and show the parts you normally leave alone.
What to discuss with your barber
Discuss how you recognise the boundary at home without repeatedly trimming closer. A photograph of your own preferred appearance can be more useful than a broad instruction to make everything neat. Ask to inspect the result before the final product changes the surface appearance. The purpose is to establish a consistent reference for your upkeep. Your preferred amount of facial hair should remain a personal choice, rather than an assumption made from the service name.
