Iron Perm With Grey Hair: What to Discuss at a Sydney CBD Barber
Ryunosuke Kano

Grey hair does not describe one uniform texture. If some strands feel coarser or sit differently from the rest, show those areas before choosing a Japanese iron perm.

Separate colour from treatment history

Naturally grey hair and hair coloured to cover grey are different consultation histories. Tell your barber whether the hair is natural, tinted, bleached or previously straightened. Do not describe all chemical work simply as colour. An iron perm is not recommended on bleached hair, and the recommendation must follow a check of the actual hair.

Choose movement independently of colour

Point to the direction you want at the fringe and the outline you want at the sides. You may prefer to keep a natural silver finish while making the shape easier to style. A perm is not a colour service and does not promise to make every strand behave identically. Ask whether the haircut and a different drying direction could achieve enough of the change without treatment.

Plan the finish you can maintain

Ask Ryunosuke or Rika to explain the product amount and drying routine suited to the agreed shape. Bring a reference with a similar length rather than expecting the colour in a photograph to determine the result.

Perm courses start at AUD250 including haircut and shaving. Confirm the requested technique and final quote before booking. Iron perms are not recommended on bleached hair.
