Straight Fringe, Wavy Back: Planning a Men’s Perm for Mixed Hair Texture
Rika Kano

Your hair does not have to behave the same way at the front, crown and back. If the fringe stays straight while other sections wave, describe each area before asking a Sydney barber to make the entire head curlier.

Show the contrast before choosing a service

Point out the section that causes difficulty and the sections you already like. Bring a photograph of your normal dry hair as well as your preferred finish. This lets the consultation address the contrast between areas, rather than treating naturally wavy hair as a problem simply because the front is straighter.

Agree on the finished balance

Would you like the front to blend into the existing movement, or do you prefer a straighter, more controlled overall outline? Those are different goals. Ask whether a haircut and drying change may be enough, or whether a perm is worth considering. The barber must check the hair and treatment history before recommending a technique or treatment area; a particular partial service is not assumed to be available.

Discuss availability and price clearly

HIROGINZA Sydney normally offers nuance, spiral, twist spiral, iron and down perm options with Ryunosuke and Rika. Confirm the requested service before booking, especially a conventional rod perm, as current preparation and availability can vary. Perm courses start at AUD250 including haircut and shaving; any proposed change in scope or price should be explained first. An iron perm is not recommended on bleached hair.
